THE STORY BEHIND The Victorian era language of flowers gives a host of meanings to iris flowers. They can represent faith, hope, courage, wisdom and admiration. ... Purple iris brings a message of wisdom and compliments, while a bouquet of blue iris blossoms speak of hope and faith.
THE ARTISTIC PROCESS
Each kimono shawl is individually hand drawn using a black gutta resist on natural white satin silk charmeuse.
WITH FRENCH SILK DYES and paintbrushes the color is applied and blended by hand creating one of a kind combinations
WHEN DRY the painted silk is steam set, permanently fixing the dye color , then the silk is hand washed and ironed
THE FINISHED painted silk is then ready to be made into a fashionable piece of wearable art. Each piece is hand cut , designed and sewn by Lynne Kiel.
THESE ART PIECES take time and each are unique in their own way. I have made my best effort to show proper coloring of the silk and artwork in all my photos.
