- The notorious RBG was a big fan of scrunchies
- In 1986 Nightclub singer/pianist Rommy Revson looking for a gentler alternative to plastic hair ties, dreamt up the concept of our beloved scrunchie
- The prototype and sewing machine Revson used are both in the Smithsonian Museum today
