THE STORY BEHIND
Today, the poppy is seen as a symbol of remembrance for the men and women who died during World Wars I and II. Every November you will see many people adorning red paper poppies in memory of those who gave their lives for our freedom.
THE ARTISTIC PROCESS
Each top is individually hand drawn using a black gutta resist on natural white pure silk satin charmeuse.
WITH SILK DYES and paintbrushes the color is applied and blended creating one of a kind combinations
WHEN DRY the painted silk is steam set, permanently fixing the dye color , then the silk is hand washed and ironed
THE FINISHED painted silk is then made into a One Of A Kind piece of wearable art. Each piece is hand cut and hand made by Lynne Kiel which may result in slight variations.
THESE ART PIECES take time and each are unique in their own way. I have made my best effort to show proper coloring of the silk and artwork in all my photos.
