The winged form of a butterfly has been used as a symbol for the human soul since ancient times .Because of its life cycle of transformation, the butterfly has been used as a symbol for spiritual transformation and resurrection in many world religions and cultures.
Each top is individually hand drawn using a black gutta resist on natural white pure silk satin charmeuse.
WITH SILK DYES and paintbrushes the color is applied and blended creating one of a kind combinations
WHEN DRY the painted silk is steam set, permanently fixing the dye color , then the silk is hand washed and ironed
THE FINISHED painted silk is then made into a One Of A Kind piece of wearable art. Each piece is hand cut and hand made by Lynne Kiel which may result in slight variations
THESE ART PIECES take time and each are unique in their own way. I have made my best effort to show proper coloring of the silk and artwork in all my photos.
