Mermaids are sometimes associated with perilous events such as floods, storms, shipwrecks, and drownings. In other folk traditions  they can be benevolent or beneficent, bestowing boons or falling in love with humans.
each design is individually hand drawn using a black gutta resist on natural white pure silk charmeuse.
WITH SILK DYES and paintbrushes the color is applied and blended
WHEN DRY the painted silk is steam set, permanently fixing the dye color , then the silk is hand washed and ironed
THE FINISHED hand painted silk is then ready to be made into a One Of A Kind piece of wearable art. Each piece is hand cut and hand made, resulting is slight variations, designed and sewn by Lynne Kiel.
THESE ART PIECES take time and each are unique in their own way. I have made my best effort to show proper coloring of the silk and artwork in all my photos.
